There are electric cars with four-figure horsepower figures, Nürburgring lap records and acceleration that threatens to rearrange your internal organs. Then there’s the Fiat Topolino. And honestly? Wouldn’t you rather have one of these.

News of the “little mouse” being launch in Europe and the US is exciting enough, but Fiat has revealed a a number of iterations of its adorable electric quadricycle, including arguably the most pointless ‘Sport’ model in the history of the automobile.

A Sport Special Edition draws inspiration from the Nuova Sport 500 of 1958, with a variety of dedicate colour schemes, bespoke wheels and a few unique badges inside and out.

There’s also the option of going full St Tropez with a model that has been developed with French swimwear brand Vilebrequin, which will be limited to just a couple of hundred and sees a white over blue as an exterior colourway, a cloth sunroof and the company’s signature turtle embroidered all over the dash box.

You can also expect special badging, chrome details and a raft of beach-ready accessories, including matching storage bags and a shower attachment for washing off sandy feet after a day by the sea.

Underneath, both models are still the same wonderfully simple Topolino we’ve become slightly obsessed with lately.

There’s an 8hp electric motor driving the front wheels, a tiny 5.5kWh battery pack and a top speed of just 28mph in those vehicles that have had the speed limit lifted. Range is quoted at around 47 miles, while a full charge takes less than four hours from a conventional domestic socket.

In many European countries, it can even be driven by teenagers as young as 14 thanks to its classification as a light quadricycle, which is ace whichever way you cut it.
