If you thought Singer had perfected the art of reimagining the coupe, think again. The California-based Porsche-tinkerers have just pulled the roof off their latest creation: the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined by Singer — and it might be one of their most stylish builds yet.
Inspired by the rare wide-body, naturally aspirated Carrera Cabriolets of the 1980s, this latest commission celebrates open-air driving the old-school way. That means no turbos. No hybrid trickery. Just a bold, 4.0-litre flat-six screaming to over 8,000rpm.
Based on the Type 964’s original engine but extensively restored and re-engineered with help from Cosworth, the new unit produces 420bhp. It features four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing and a clever mix of water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders — plus an electrically powered fan drawing on Singer’s DLS Turbo learnings.
Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Naturally.

The car itself is rebuilt around the original 964 monocoque, strengthened for greater rigidity and clothed in lightweight carbon fibre bodywork inspired by the dramatic Turbo-look variants of the G-series era. A newly developed ‘Z-pattern’ folding roof mechanism promises cleaner lines and reduced weight, whether raised or stowed.
Underneath, Bosch-developed ABS, traction and stability systems blend with selectable drive modes, four-way adjustable dampers and optional carbon-ceramic brakes. It might look like something from a Whitesnake video, but this thing drives and handles like a modern machine.
As ever, each car is restored and personalised to its owner’s exact tastes — from Pacific Blue touring specs to Guards Red, winged, track-focused builds. Just 75 commissions will be offered.
