Porsche has never been shy about collaborating. After all, it will sell you a Smeg fridge or toaster with its branding emblazoned across it. But its latest hook-up taps into the other passion of profligate customers: boating.

At the annual Boot Düsseldorf event this year, Porsche rocked up with something a little unexpected: not just a selection of cars, but a fully electric sports boat developed hand-in-hand with Austrian boatbuilder Frauscher. And to underline the point that this is very much a Porsche affair, the debut of the Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre will be accompanied by a one-off concept car – the Macan Turbo Concept Lago.

The idea is simple, but ambitious. Rather than adapting an existing hull to electric propulsion, Frauscher has engineered the 790 Spectre entirely around Porsche’s latest high-performance EV hardware. The result is a sleek, modern sports boat powered by the same electric architecture found in the new Porsche Macan, with the battery and rear-mounted motor forming the backbone of the vessel’s layout.

It’s a continuation of a partnership that already turned heads with the earlier 850 Fantom Air, but this latest effort feels more cohesive and more Porsche than ever. The 790 Spectre isn’t just inspired by Stuttgart’s EVs – it’s fundamentally built around them.
That connection is made visually explicit by the Macan Turbo Concept Lago, a bespoke show car created specifically for the Düsseldorf reveal.

It’s only a design study for now, but Porsche says the Macan Turbo packs plenty of bespoke features from Porsche’s Sonderwunsch programme. These include both the front and the rear luggage compartments that are lined with yacht-style real wood and a compass that takes the place of the traditional sports chrono timepiece in the upper portion of the dash.

You can’t buy the special edition Macan Turbo (for now, anyway), but the Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre boat is now available to order. In true luxury style, both brands are keeping tight-lipped about price.
