DAB Motors has been quietly bubbling away underneath the surface, releasing a number of stunning, fashion-inspired limited edition electric motorcycles that have drawn inspiration from the worlds of gaming, surf and sneakers.
So far, we have seen multiple incarnations of the 1α, including tie-ins with Burberry, Marcus Rashford and FKA Twigs, but all of these have been limited in number and made to order.
Now that the French outfit is under the management of Peugeot, the team has seen fit to step things up a gear with the launch of DAB 1 — the first bike that can be ordered by any mere mortal.
Powering the unit is the same 31hp electric motor that delivers 395Nm of torque to the rear wheel and a range of around 93 miles on a single charge. It adheres to L3e-A1 homologation, which is essentially a 125cc learner licence, but still manages a to speed of almost 75mph.
Unlike the slew of cheaper, predominantly Chinese, electric motorcycles in this category, DAB Motors says its machine is an altogether more serious proposition. Kayaba suspension, a fully redesigned seat, and an adjustable seat height all come as standard.

As does a Brembo braking system with Peugeot Motocycles Dual ABS, keyless start via a pin code and 2.8-inch LCD display that reveals speed, battery level, charging status, riding modes and system parameters.
The DAB 1 is now available to order on the official DAB Motors website, starting at €9,990, or from €199/month leasing with no down payment. The company also offers free home delivery to the first 50 European customers.
Sound expensive? Well, DAB Motors’ mantra is to “produce less, but produce better”. According to the marque, the DAB 1 is manufactured in small batches, allowing continuous product evolution and a level of attention rarely achieved in the motorcycle industry.

Thanks to its new DAB online configurator, the DAB 1 becomes “a blank canvas: thousands of combinations of colours, finishes, seat options, and equipment allow each owner to create their own interpretation,” the company says.
