If you are anything like us (or at least follow similar accounts), your social media feeds have no doubt been inundated with updates from the FAT Ice Race in Zell Am See.

For the uninitiated, it’s a bunch of wealthy folk sliding precious metal around a ski resort while parading around in horrendously expensive clothing. Oh, and there’s the dying art of Skijoring (tow-skiing behind a car), which is always a bit of fun to witness.

In recent years, numerous automotive brands have either partnered with FAT or used the event as a platform to launch stuff, including the likes of Porsche and Polestar.

“There’s a titanium sports exhaust from Akrapovic at the rear, along with the addition of twin towing eyes at the front”

This year, Bentley took to the ice with its Bentayga X Concept, which the company says has been developed to “stimulate and gain feedback for an enhanced off-road capable Bentayga”. Read in between the lines and it means that it is highly likely we will see a more hardcore Bentayga if demand is there.

Based on the Bentayga Speed, which already packs a 650hp 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 engine, the Concept X builds on the permanent all-wheel-drive and air suspension with forged, single piece 22-inch rims, created by specialists Brixton, as well as chunky off-road tyres.

The overall track-width has increased, as has the ride height, while the wheel arches have been pushed further to the outer edges to accommodate these tweaks. Bentley says the alterations have resulted in a wading depth of over 550 mm and a ground clearance of just under 310 mm.

As you can probably see, the remainder of the updates are largely visual, with a beefy roof rack added up-top, itself  festooned with lamps and — to celebrate the FAT Karting League — a Bambino-size Go Kart to prove how much extra space this roof accessory adds.

Finally, there’s a titanium sports exhaust from Akrapovic at the rear, along with the addition of twin towing eyes at the front.

Former Top Gear presenter Chris Harris jumped behind the wheel of the custom Bentayga Speed this year, with Norwegian freestyle skier, Hedvig Wessel, dragged along behind for the ride. Bentley also says that this kicks-off a multi-year brand partnership deal with FAT, so can probably expect more t come in the future.

Let’s hope someone puts those wheels on a Continental GT S… fast.
