The Hoonigans and the Gymkhana series of videos needs little introduction. Fronted by the late and very great Ken Block, the original 10 videos have amassed well over half a billion views and the series has gone on to bust through the billion mark.

Aussie Shred, the latest oil starring Travis Pastrana, has been many years in the making, with Block himself keen on tearing Australia a new one back when he was at the helm. Unfortunately, the Aussie government was sick and tired of the population driving lick dickheads, so decided that a video promoting big skids was probably a bad idea.

But according to those behind the latest film, Australia relented after 10 years of pestering and the result is an absolutely banzai 11 minutes of unadulterated automotive filth.

Pastrana pilots a modified Subaru Brat — dubbed the Brataroo — which is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged boxer engine that spits actual flames out of the exhausts. The 70’s  Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter (or pick-up, to you and me) revs to 9,500rpm and puts out 670 horses.

It is also fitted with ridiculous suspension and numerous aero elements that aren’t designed to provide downforce, but help it fly…
